The Chai Cart was created by Sam Blackburn, a QUT Industrial Design graduate who has a passion for Chai and wanted to see the real thing available in the city. Shortly after graduating, he embarked upon a journey to turn the concept of a street cart Chai vendor into a real business.
After designing the original cart at the end of 2012 and constructing it in the early months of 2013, The Chai Cart was ready to meet Brisbane. Kelvin Grove Village Markets was the debut site for the cart and so began the long process of perfecting the art!
Soon we began doing festivals too, with the Festival of Australian Theater our first! Since then we have supplied Chai to the music lovers at Splendour in the Grass, the grass lovers at Mardi Grass, the Lantern lovers at the Lismore Lantern Parade and yoga lovers at Yoga Fest.
Our latest expansion has been to occupy a shop in the CBD for the winter months. This has finally made the concept of real chai in the city into a reality and we hope to continue to move forward in our quest to provide as many people as we can with our delicious slow brew chai!
